Brief thoughts on Shibari

For me, the appeal of shibari/kinbaku is twofold: first, its a great way to highlight form, making a two dimensional representation of a three dimensional subject feel more tactile and voluminous, much like how dramatic light can.  Also, I love the range of possible simplicity and ornateness of working with rope, and getting into the technical aspects such as knot tying, managing tension, and finding ways to make a tie that looks beautiful.
