End of the Cherry Blossom Season
Nestled between the end of winter and the beginning of Spring, Japan’s cherry blossom (sakura) season briefly bathes the landscape in pink petals. Long a symbol of youth, vitality, and the transient nature of life, the delicate blossoms are fragile, torn from the trees by even a slight breeze. The season ends as quickly as it begins, with spring rains washing away the fallen petals.
These photos document a time when my heart was filled with feelings of loss.
