Nathalie's Virtual Boudoir Session

Nathalie and I decided to do another virtual session, since travel is still limited and she’s currently living in Europe. The process is simple enough: figure out what time has ideal lighting at her place, line up some outfit options, and on the day of the shoot use very clear communication to offer her direction and give instructions for how to move around her laptop for ideal shots as I take screenshots over a video call.

I woke up before dawn here in Los Angeles to catch the late afternoon in her time zone (nobody said being a photographer was easy), and after catching up we got right to shooting. We were very lucky that her living room had direct sun, allowing us to enjoy dramatic backlighting and strong contrast in the shadows.

As the shoot went on, Nathalie became more confident in herself and got into her groove, barely needing any direction from me, as the sun neared the horizon and its rays were shaped by the window and the shadow of a nearby building to make a delightful triangle of light.

It is always like this: my job is to simply guide people through their nerves so they can express themselves naturally, no matter how camera-shy they may feel at first. Then, I simply concentrate on the light and catch the most striking moments as they happen, and finally polish the final images to match how I felt.

If you’re curious about doing your own boudoir session, virtual or in-person, shoot me a message.
